Meet the awkward travellers…

Hello! We’re Hollie & Zach, a couple in our 30s, who both recently finished our jobs in television and software development, respectively, to travel the world. We’ve been together nearly 2 years so thought we’d test the relationship to the max – by living out of 2 rucksacks whilst shlepping across the globe with all the fun, games and questionable toilets that brings. What could possibly go wrong, eh?

We’re documenting our journey in a range of ways for ourselves, friends & family, but thought our experiences could help others with planning trips as well, so started this blog to keep track of all the juicy details. We’ll no doubt be making loads of mistakes, faux pas and hopefully having some triumphs along the way – and we’ll be sharing it all ya lucky ducks! Always unfiltered and as always, terribly, embarrassingly awkward.

Have we planned all of the above, nope! Do we know what order we are doing SE Asia in, absolutely not! But Hollie does well with improv and general passenger princess-ing, while Zach is in charge of spreadsheet-based organisation and ‘getting there with plenty of time’ transport anxiety, so we’re optimistic that we are Batman and Robin of the travel world.

You will be pleased to know our first leg – China – is very well planned due to fairly strict visa application rules (all of that for another blog!), so we have some structure for the first 23 days. There are, of course, still a few things to figure out but we are 2 of life’s great optimists so Nǐ hǎo China, we’re coming in hot!
